Securely deleting MBP?

Im selling my old MacBook pro (late 2013). It seems the option to do 7 passes etc has been removed? True?

Whats the best way to make sure data isn't retrieved? I spoke to apple support and they said just erase and re-install is secure.

If you were using FileVault, then yes that is all you need to do. The data on the hard drive is encrypted. Without a key, nobody can get to it.

I was using FileVault. I turned that off - so it has to decrypt it first - and im re-installing Mojave now.

So decrypting is not optional as you can't erase otherwise - thats what he said but I didnt check properly and just took his word for it.

Hmm... maybe I shouldn't have decrypted first and erased on top. Didn't properly check all options. Damn.
