Securing files?

Hey, i was wondering, is there any way to put a file (ie: personal info) and enable to folder to require a password or something, before you can access the file? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey im having a problem. i went to the link, and followed the disk utility instructions. but when i say create file, it says "unable to create ----- (resource busy)" Any clue to why it is doing this?

I don't yet have a mac so this is a guess...could some other program be using the directory or file?
