Is anyone worried that scanning of one's face might further lead to theft of Identity? I mean Apple already basically has my fingerprints....what else would someone use my ugly mug for?

No, they don't. Your fingerprints are stored in a secure enclave in the iPhone and Apple does not have access to them.

it doesn't even store the fingerprint. just a mathematical representation of it.
not an actual image of it.

And Apple doesn't have it, it's stored encrypted locally on your device on a special chip.
