HI,

I'm trying to create a python-django application, and to do that I need to
set up a few things in file sharing apparently. I'm a programmer, but
don't know much about the MAC OSX safety or security. I clicked on
the systems preferences and saw that I think my system was wide open
previously, and I didn't even realize it.

I read that Personal Web Sharing is the apache server... is that right?
Any way to find out what version it is?

What settings should I have to prevent others on my subnet, or on the
otherside of our router to access my files/machine? Is there a way to
log attempts, etc.?
I realize I am asking basic questions, but maybe this will be helpful to
others...

If I turn the firewall off to use Personal Web Sharing, won't that leave
me open to attack?
If I have the firewall on, can I still use filezilla?

etc.

Signed,
