Does anyone know of a app/software that is preferably free that allows the owner of a Macbook Pro track/lock/alarm a stolen laptop? I saw that iCloud does it but I wasn't sure if it was free and whether it would work with Mac OS X Snow Leopard:apple:

This is a side question but lets say your MBP does get stolen and Prey Project does provide you with evidence (such as a location and screen shot) of the thief. Is that enough proof to go to the police and would they follow up?

This is the best solution I know of.

It seems like prey would provide you with enough evidence but I guess it all depends on the police department and if they deem it to be worth their time.. I hope it would be but you never know with cops
