I had to delete my Mum's user account on my Mac this evening due to an issue with the cursor. I then created the user account again using her email address. BUT then when I went into the App Store on her account to update a couple of Apps, the user email address that popped was mine and not hers. Fair play, I did need to enter my password to update the apps, which I did and then promptly signed back out again. Surely this can't be right, can it???

The email address to update the app is connected to the account that was used to install the app in the first place. As such, if you installed an app when your account was signed in to the App Store, that's the one that needs to update that app. It's not a security problem.

Thanks chrfr. This was for MS Word and Excel, which I'd installed on my user account and is available to all 5 user accounts. So does this mean that the only way for the other users to update these apps is via my account and password?

Wow! If I update these apps from my user account, should they then not automatically get updated across the other 4 user accounts? This didn't happen for the word and Excel updates.

There is only one copy of each app, but apps can only be updated from the App Store account which "purchased" them. It doesn't matter which user account is signed in on the Mac.

Thanks mate. The odd thing about this particular example is the update for the 2 apps wasn't showing in my user account but was showing in my mum's account.

I Thought if there was an update for an app which all users have (in my case word and Excel) then the update badge should Show on all the user accounts.
