Hi all.

I followed all advice yesterday and tried to install the security update 2017-001.

I clicked the the 'Install' button in App Store updates last night about 9.15pm, and twenty minutes later it was still showing 'Installing-Calculating' when i had to shut my Mac.

This morning it still shows as exactly the same; 'Installing-Calculating', and i think it has become stuck somehow. Also (and it may just be coincidental of course) my Mac has become incredibly slow this morning, with a several second delay between keyboard and screen.

Any ideas please?

Edit: Sod's Law has been applied... No sooner did I post this than 2017-001 is showing now as having been installed.

Although, having said that App Store is still endlessly 'checking for updates' and showing 2 updates available on the red badge in the dock icon, one of which had been the security update, and my Mac is still ever so slow.

Edit: The Security Update is now showing as having been installed TWICE in my App Store window, and everything is running smoothly again. I would delete this post now if I could.

Reports are that there two or three builds of this patch floating around. More people are reporting it installed 2x or 3x times.

Patch appearently now also applies to 10.13.0. Maybe they fixed this file sharing issue as well ?

Yeah I'm seeing something like that. I'd already installed the 2017-01 sec update, it shows as being installed in the App Store app but a new one has appeared with the same name.

$ sw_vers returns build number 17B1002

Another thing I don't remember seeing before, I now have a notification tab that has appeared in the usual top right of my screen with:

Security Update Required
This update must be completed

and only one action button available : Update

In my sysprefs for App Store I have the following enabled:
Automatically check for updates
Install system data files and security updates

Otherwise all the other options are disabled.

I'm hanging around forums like this one waiting to hear what's happening to others before letting it do it's stuff since my trust levels of macOS quality control is currently too low.

There's a new version of the update out to include the file sharing fix. That build is 17B1003.
