Any word yet on if Apple included a fix in this update for the Heimdal Kerberos issue caused in 2021-004?

Any word yet on if Apple included a fix in this update for the Heimdal Kerberos issue caused in 2021-004?

FYI: I have applied this to three machines at my location, each one of them has had this issue resolved with this latest update.

No issues noted. Was 1.4g on my 2017 27” iMac. Took less time than 005 IMO, but was larger in size I think. Don’t remember 005 being almost 1.5g.

No issues here, except for some reverted Launch Services settings after the installation.

Where is the download link for Security Update 2021-005 Mojave ?

At some point, the Software Downloads support page became an afterthought for Apple.

It will deign to post a link to the 005 package when they get around to it.

If you desire to update sooner, you'll have to go through the Software Update pref pane.

Full OS install packages can be downloaded via Terminal, but I'm uncertain whether that ever applied to updates, or even still works.

Which seems stupid, as you would think that Apple would want people to keep their security up to date.

And whilst they would no doubt prefer that to be automatically and on the latest macOS version, or failing that though Software Update, for various reasons some of us would either need or prefer to use a downloaded package on an older system.

So instead people are just left waiting and wondering, and I do not see how that benefits Apple.

Can't disagree.

In a past life, I used to administer the Macs for the small company I worked for. The Downloads page was an important tool.

But, Apple then dumbed it down, made it harder to find things, and then started to neglect posting things in a timely manner.

I've sent nasty feedback, purely out of frustration, but I'm glad I no longer have to rely on it to do a job.

🤷‍♂️

Security and Safari updates can be downloaded in Terminal, using the softwareupdate command. First, run softwareupdate -l to list what is available. You will want the one(s) on the line with asterisks. Download them by softwareupdate -d "name of update". Your downloads will be in the /Library/Updates folder hierarchy.

Where is the download link for Security Update 2021-005 Mojave ?

If you're on HFS+ (yes, it's possible with Mojave), or need to get the update download to carry to a Mac that isn't internet-connected, a good starting point is the SUCatalog list.

https://gist.github.com/meyer/b14c87d162366f0428a99cd2ff0d0b8b

I used the one for Mojave, near the bottom of the list.

https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.14-1.sucatalog

Each of Apple's SUCatalogs contains XML with links. The trick is to find the link you're looking for. For me, it's for the package file for 2021-005, which was:

http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...5fx2ccb8gdg28tqtllz0/SecUpd2021-005Mojave.pkg

You should consider this a "delta" update package, so be sure you're on 2021-004 before using. Then double-click the package file as normal.

(Also, it doesn't update the Recover partition. I don't have a Recovery partition, so don't ask me how, though there is a separate package that may be involved in the SUCatalog.)

First, make sure your fresh install is build 18G103 10.14.6. Use the Combo Update if it isn't.

https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2010

Then install the 2021-004 Security Update, which is effectively a combo since 18G103, getting you to 18G9216.

https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2074

(Those links can be found on the Mojave Wikipedia page.)

Then install the 2021-005 delta as I told you above, and you'll be at 18G9323.

That's the best you can do until Apple releases the 2021-005 update on the Support Download website.

Hello @nospamboz ,

Could you post the same instructions and links for Security Update 2021-004 (Catalina) delta update package?

Thanks
