Security Update Question on JB phone 3G

I have my iphone 3g JB last december, and I read somewhere not to update security on the mac. I have not updated the security on my mac since, can I update my mac security now or will I have to live without updating the security.
it version 2.2(5G77). Any suggestions.

I also have another question, I just installed lockinfo and selected it in my winterboard, but it does not do anything. How can I get the weather,sms, mail,alerts to show up.
