which INTERNET SECURITY or ANTI-VIRUS is best for mac OS x leopard ....

Wow.
Searching doesn't become newcomers.

There is no need for AV software, as there are* NO viruses for Mac OS X, the malware titles (a dozen or so) have to be installed by yourself and YOU have to enter the password for your account. So if you don't download anything suspicious, then you're good to go.

Btw, MRoogle is a good tool to search these forums for threads with PROPER thread titles talking about the issue of viruses and the angst that comes with it. There should be hundreds of them for you to choose from.

* ARE is present tense, if any one reads that word and confuses it with another tense. They exist. Really.

Also have a look at the following links, as the information presented there might be helpful in your future endeavours into Mac OS X and could clear up initial confusion and may even prevent harm to your system or your files.

thank u so much ...

unnecessary to start a new thread and i searched and this one came up...just for clarification: purchasing things online is safe on Macs without any type of security program? all i have is the OS X firewall on.

Ordering stuff online is not dependent on the platform so much as the browser and/or the site. I'm not going to register for that, but unless the section that you enter your credit card info—at the very least—is https instead of http, I wouldn't waste my time. You'd be transmitting data openly, and again, this has nothing to do with MacOS.
