Okay so I have unlimited and have been grandfathered in for some time.

I am on the select data plan page on Apple, and it only gives me 200MB, 2GB and 4GB options.

Did anyone else get this?

Im super nervous to lose the unlimited and am wondering what to do

Thsi is such ******** i dont want to take the chance of picking something else, and losing the unlimited.

i am sure it'll be fine. if you select the wrong version and you lose the unlimited plan, you kick and scream to at&t and threaten to go to sprint. if you do this before the 30 days you'll be fine.

I wouldn't worry about it. You're not going to have Unlimited for much longer.

I currently have the $5 text messaging plan for At&t. Seems the only option now is the $20 plan. Am I missing something?

I only saw the Pay by Text and the Unlimited for $20 option. You're not the only one. I was looking for the $15 one too, but said 'screw it. I'll just pay the extra $5'

Oh and as far as the unlimited data, keep going. It'll be one of the data options for $30.

For people who were not grandfathered in, they won't see the option.

When I placed my order, Unlimited was one of the data plan options via apple.com I'm on the grandfathered unlimited.

OK. I chatted with a CSR, who forwarded my to a "specialist." She said that the $5 text messaging and Unlimited Data plans are no longer available; however, if you call customer care are placing the order, they can add those plans back. It's just that the online system will no longer recognize those plans.

No it wasn't. It was $20 for the first gen.

The EDGE unlimited data plan ($20.00) was never eligible for direct transfer into any 3G-capable smartphone. If you upgraded from an EDGE-based smartphone to a 3G-capable smartphone, it has always been mandatory to abandon the $20.00 EDGE plan in exchange for one of the officially 3G-eligible data plans.

The "grandfathering", in this case, simply refers to the permission to migrate from the EDGE-based "unlimited" plan ($20.00) into the 3G-based "unlimited" tier ($30.00). Contrast this with new, non-grandfathered customers, who would not have the option to opt for an "unlimited" tier at all, but instead would be required to choose one of the capped 3G tiers.

Did anyone who ordered from AT&T have this happen...I'm grandfathered unlimited on a FAN account family plan.

It said my data plan was incompatible and that they had to change it to a compatible one. The new plan is simply called "Data Plan for iPhone" and no indication of a data limit, and the price is same as unlimited ($30/mo).

Should I be concerned that this switched me to a limited? It seems to be the same plan but I just want to be sure.

Would much rather have gone through Apple but somehow early this AM the site kept crashing and ultimately I ended up with a message saying "Order already placed, cancel and try again" even though I never put in any CC number, address, etc. I ended up using AT&T's site later when I woke up this morning.

I just ordered mine through the iPhone app and didn't have any problem with the unlimited option, you might want to try that.

After two hours on hold, the AT&T sales rep told me otherwise - he said I couldn't keep my grandfathered text messaging plan. I ended up not ordering, as I don't want to pay another $180/year for no good reason.

I don't want to get this tangled up with the data plan discussion, so I've started a separate thread for this. If anyone successfully orders a phone with an old text messaging (not data) plan intact, I'd love to hear about it:
