Selecting files in coverflow?

So is there a way to select multiple files in cover flow? Say I'm looking through my photos and I want to select a number of them either in a row (by holding down shift) or a few sporadic ones (by holding down CMD). Of course you can do it in the file list but that's not what I want to do, I want to select them in coverflow - is this possible? Is there a setting I missed or should I tell apple to add it?
