I'm pondering a decision over christmas the next few weeks to possibly sell my 11" MBA and iPad 2 and go for a 13" MBA instead. Just a bit of feedback from anyone who has done this, or something similar would be great. While I don't use my iPad 2 really that much, I feel like if I sold it id start missing it, even though I don't use it and I use my MBA 90% of the time.

The real question is, is the 13" MacBook Air worth me going through the hassle of selling , just to get 2" of screen and a slightly faster processor or should I just stick to what I have.

The MacBook Air I have now, really fits my needs and I love it to bits except for the fact I bought the one with 64gb SSD and am missing a little space, even with a Hard Drive, its still nice to have more space(128gb) would be adequate for me.

All in all is it worth the effort or should I invest in a portable flash drive and store my music there?

Only way you should ever consider this is iff you can get a good sale on your 11 if you have to loose your ipad and take a big hit on your MBA then dont do it

Well I'm assuming that id get 800 back on my Air at least and 380 or so for my iPad which would give me the price of a 13"

If i was you id pick up a network drive get your itunes, photos an media on it save u a fortune and youll still have ur ipad

i'm doing a similar thing - going to sell my 11" MBA and buy the 13" 256GB MBA and an iPad 2.
I feel that the screen size difference of the two is big enough to justify. Having played with both the 11 and 13, there is a noticeable difference in screen size, plus the trackpad on the 13 inch is a lot bigger.

Mostly reason to upgrade would be storage space, I haven't really got a problem with anything else, thought if i was going to upgrade id be better going with 13" if its my only device. Was looking at some sort of network USB drive, found possibly a very cheap solution to my problem.

connect my existing 1tb drive to the network so I can access it while I'm at home(only time I need media).

How much do you use your 15" MBP in comparison to your Air?

I wouldn't - I sold my iPad 2 for $490 and got an 11" Base 2010 Air for $600 - the difference is night and day - I like the Air much more and it's more capable for every day use. If I take my iPad out with me I don't feel like I can get anything done - only to play with it. If I need serious email I'd lug along the bluetooth keyboard which then makes the iPad even heavier.

I have an iPad and a 13" MBA and I use them both for very different purposes. There are some things that the MBA is great for and some things that the iPad is great for. For example I love browsing the web and reading books on the iPad. I can't imagine doing that with my MBA.

I see these devices as complimentary.

I wouldn't, but everyone has their own set of needs. To me there's more to be gained by having two distinct modes of computing (tablet vs laptop) than having a somewhat more capable version of one of those modes. Lot's of answers to the storage issue if that's your big concern.

It doesn't sound worth it to me. I'd be more inclined to spend some cash on a flash drive/external hard drive, etc.
