I have a 20" 2.16Ghz iMac/2GB RAM/250 HDD. It isn't under applecare.

Someone has just offered me $650 for it (without keyboard/mouse).

My thought is to sell it for $650 and put the money towards a $1299 refurbished MBP (2.4GHz/15"/9600M), and pay the rest of it off on a 12-month/no-interest finance.

1) Should I be asking for more for the iMac?
2) Should I just cross my fingers and hope the iMac lasts two more years without dying? What would it sell for in two years?

Thanks.

650 is prob. about right for the iMac... Im considering selling my iMac 2.4 320gig 3GBram for 800 to get some of they money back for the mbp i just bought...

but if you have to finance it id say just keep the iMac, unless you really need a laptop.. it should last you another 2 years no problem, you might want to spend 50-100 dollars and upgrade the ram, but thats your call...

1) I think you could get $700-750 for it, depending on condition.
2) Unless the hard drive goes bad (which is always a possibility) I don't see why you couldn't get at least another 2 years out of it. Before I got my iMac, I was using a quicksilver from 2001, or about 8 years old.

Barring unforeseen problems, you could probably get about $400-500 for it in 2 years.

I don't need to finance. I just like zero interest financing, and the wife doesn't beat me up when she sees I spent $700.:p

oh well, in that case you should see what you can get for the imac and go for it... i love my 13"mbp so much i dont even use my imac anymore so im prob. gonna sell it
