so I really want one of theses new pros, it would be the 13', problem is I would have to sell my 24' 2009 imac to get some of the money. Am I mad for wanting to swap my massive screen for one half the size? Im just fed up sitting in the corner when i could be on the couch with the laptop, anyone thinking about this or done it??

I thought about this but IMO the money I would have gotten from my 2009 24" iMac wasn't enough since I paid nearly 2000€ for it. I decided to pair my iMac with a 13" MBA and I've been very happy with the decision.

If you cannot afford two computers or you are fine with the resale value of your iMac, go for it. You can always get an external monitor and use it as a desktop.

I don't think you're mad. I just sold my late 2010 iMac to help fund the new 15" base MacBook Pro. Like you I like the portability factor, and with the latest Pros, I don't see how you can go wrong.

They do look really good and looking on eBay I reckon I could get £500 for the iMac. Half way there to getting the new one !

What about keeping the iMac and getting an ipad rather than a MBP for portability. Thats what I'm considering doing. Not sure at this point what to do.

I have an iPad. The kids use it more than me. Much prefer a proper mac. !!
