Since you can't take your AT&T iPhone 4 with you to Verizon ... why not sell your iPhone 4 on eBay to pay for your ETF?

A no brainer way out of your AT&T contract ... no?

I have never used ebay

dont i have to build up some rep or something in order to be a credible seller ?

or can i just go on there for the first time & get a buyer

and what steps do we need to take

calling at&t
erasing all the data on the phone
restore
jailbreak,unlock ?

I've had years of stellar service from AT&T. ETF isn't even a consideration.

The way most users approach ownership is all wrong. That's one reason Apple Zealots cry

One should always choose the carrier with the best coverage in your area FIRST.

THEN choose the phone. It's a very basic fact of life.

However since most people fail to educate themselves about how cell phones & cellular networks function they end up gambling and buying the "cool phone" with no regard for anything else.

That is a good point. I had to start out on U.S. cellular when I got my first cell phone because I quickly found out that neither AT&T, Cingular, or Verizon had cell coverage in my area. I did my research by asking if I could get a phone to check to see if it would work in my area and all 3 let me do it but gave me a really crappy phone to try it with, and none of them got reception. But U.S. Cellular did so I got on with one of there crap phones until the first major carrier made it to my area and it was verizon. AT&T finally made here a year ago but I was locked in with verizon and droid, now that they have the Iphone I am excited!

Then you have to buy the same phone on verizon brainiac

Either way you're gonna be out $350

A good condition iPhone 4 can easily sell for $450-$500 on eBay, especially if you jailbreak it. ETF is $325. You'll have an extra $100 to offset the costs.

My point exactly ... get out of jail with some change in your pocket.

Tell Sherlock up there that the AT&T and Verizon iPhones are not the same exact phone. Everyone, Verizon customers included, will need to BUY the "not" the same phone on Verizon.

I already sold my iPhone 4 on eBay for $600.

Was still in amazing condition but I didn't jailbreak or unlock it.

ETF was $275, ($325 -10x#of months )

Plus eBay will charge you like 50$... Plus Paypal,

But still I think I have over $250 to spend on my Verizon iPhone now.

This is why I buy good cases for my phones so they stay in pristine condition. This way I get top dollar when I resell on ebay.

I can understand how it's much easier to keep it in perfect condition if you cover it with a case. But I don't like cases and mine was still in perfect condition after 6 months.

That being said accidents do happen and if you ever drop it it is more likely to stay in perfect condition if it's in a case.
