Selling 3g but...

I want to get rid of all my stuff on it before I sell it to the person.
I was thinking of restoring it. But can I do that without it updating to 4.xx. And is there any 3.1.x firmwares around for download that I can use because I'm not sure if I still have a 3.1.x restore saved. (Have I4 now.)

Also I think they want it unlocked but am I able to do that without it having service?

Hey. I downloaded that Firmware. But when I try to restore my phone it says something about not having service.
But if I right click on my iphone (on side bar near music, ect) and click restore. Another window pops up. But it only has one restore. And it isn't that one that I downloaded.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

I'm not perfectly sure, but I believe if you click on your iPhone in the iTunes sidebar, there's the option to restore. What you need to do is alt+click on it, and it comes up asking you to select the ipsw, and you can select the one posted in the thread. I reckon this will work. Good luck
