iPad Selling a cellular iPad 3 - correct process?

If I want to sell my iPad 3 so that I can buy an iPad 4, either on eBay or Craigslist or what have you, what process should I take? How do I transfer my Verizon cellular account from my old one to my new one? There's no SIM cards so I can see that being a hassle. Do I have to copy down all the information in the cellular settings and take it to Verizon when I get my new iPad 4? If I wipe my iPad 3 and sell it to someone, will the Verizon towers still see it as linked to my account?

iPad 3 has a sim card in it. All I did was take the sim out, sell the iPad, call Verizon and they said to call them back once I got the iPad 4 and they will ask for my new iPad's info and they will transfer my account from my old sim card to the new card.
