Hi,
I have a good opportunity to sell my late 08 UMBP to a friend which will allow me to get the new MBP that Apple will release hopefully soon.

I would like to ask you if there are any special things I should think about before selling it.

- I will probably reformat & clean install it.
- shall I make a contract with my friend so that he has a proof that it belongs to him ? The MBP has still 2 years of AppleCare so maybe he needs such a thing.

- deauthorise iTunes ?

something else ?

Thanks,
Tex

My usual list:

-deactivate Photoshop
-deauthorize iTunes
-make sure data is backed up
-boot from install cd
-erase hard drive (if I'm selling to an "unknown" person I would at least do a zero-out secure erase)
-install the OS
-at the setup screen, command-q to shut down
-make sure computer is lookin' good

:D

Applecare is tied to the computer, not the owner. So nope, he doesn't need proof that it belongs to him.

Apple allows you to deauthorize all computers about once a year and you have 5 computers you can have the music on so either way its no big deal.
