how do i get rid of the Apple ID on my ipad?
when i restore my ipad, it says i need to login with the apple ID that was used before on the ipad.
I need to get rid of this, because its for sale.

Do a restore in iTunes, which sets it back to factory specs. When the "welcome" screen comes up, disconnect the iPad and turn it off.

With ios7. If u have ur Apple ID enabled. U need to sign out of iCloud and find my iPhone/iPad first.

Or else if u restore Apple won't activate iPad unless user puts in Apple ID first to activate it as a theft prevention.

You probably have Find My iThing enabled. You need to go to Settings > iCloud and turn off Find my iPhone service. As part of the anti-theft measures in iOS7, once you turn on Find my iPhone, it locks the device to your Apple ID until you turn it off.

Don't forget to log in to your Apple Device Support Profile (find it on their support section of the website) and remove your iPad from your account.

whats the benefit of doing this?

The new purchaser can't add it their account until you remove it...so if anything it is more of a favor for them. This comes into play if you're transferring AC+. If they have an issue and choose to go to Apple for support, they will have issues getting this support if the device isn't added to their profile.
