Selling Apple Watch... do I cancel Apple Care?

I'm selling my Apple Watch that has a monthly Apple Care plan on it. Do I need to cancel this? Does it transfer to the next owner? Should I ask the buyer?

It's a stranger on the other side of the country so I don't want to keep paying for it like I would if it was family.

I'm not so sure about the monthly plans. Since they're charging your credit card every month, I'm not sure how you would transfer that coverage. I do remember back when I sold a watch with any remaining Apple Care left on the term, it could be transferred to the new owner. Hopefully, someone with experience in this area can offer you a more solid answer!

Now that I think about it, I might keep it until they receive it. I'd hate to drop it at he post office or something.
