I am thinking about selling my current Macbook Pro and buying the new Macbook. I am thinking about buying the $1,600 one. What do you all think?

I bought the Macbook Pro in June brand new. I like my current Macbook Pro but it is big and I always want the newest stuff lol.

If I were you, I'd stick with the MBP until a Nehalem Macbook/Macbook Pro comes around.... :D

As with the MBP being to big, I can't help you there. I find my non-uni body MBP just fine.

If your mbp is a early 2008 version it is a more powerful machine than the new macbook. You won't really gain anything other than a pretty new designed MacBook.

and there is something wrong with that? They are gorgeous:rolleyes:

Absolutly not. If he wants a new MacBook that is fair enough. But if he is expecting a notebook that works better than the one he is replacing he would be disappointed.

so you only want it bc its new or does it have some kind of feature you need?

i guess "looks" factor into the purchase equation but i'm kinda confused on your consideration here

If you've got money to burn and form matters more to you than function and money, then go through with it. But as others noted, the MBP is a better machine. If money does matter, then wait another year for another technology leap. Otherwise, you will regret making the move this year rather than next. (Of course, if you're so well off that you can afford to switch computers every six months, then you wouldn't bother asking, would you?)

I agree with all of the previous posters. While the new MB is an impressive machine, a 2008 MBP (which I also have) wipes the floor with it. My advice would be to hold on to what you have and wait for the next upgrades. To do what you are thinking of would be to replace a computer with a less powerful (although perhaps more stylish) model. Your choice, but my advice still stands. Hold on to the MBP for a while longer.
Cheers
