I was thinking of buying 2 of the new iPad that is coming out soon. Sell one to offset the cost of one. I know there will be people in other countries that would pay top dollar to have their hands on one. I don't know if this is worth the shipping and other costs. You still have the chance of being scammed. I heard some stories of sellers making over a thousand dollars or so by selling a iPad.

Thanks

selling any product internationally adds a high level of complexity and risks. Personally the prospect of getting ripped off is too high to sell such a high demand product internationally.

Im going to do the same thing. Ive sold iPhones overseas and never had a problem. Made a good profit doing so too.

Agreed. I would not be willing to take that risk.

Is it worth it to sell an iPad 2 to a bidder outside the US?

Roughly speaking, if your local sales tax is 7% you'd have to sell it for around 122% of list price on ebay just to break even. That'd be a winning bid of about $730 on a $600 ipad2. You'd pocket a little under 83% of every dollar above that break-even point.

So to make $100 profit, you'd need to sell that $600 ipad for around $850.

These are rough figures of course, back-of-the-envelope if you like. Still enough that I don't think I'd play that game. Risk is too high for my taste (whether real or imagined).

what risk?

The risk is for the buyer not for the seller if your using eBay.
You get the PayPal money in your account before you ship it; only risk is someone not buying it for much more than then you bought it, usually buyers pay for shipping too; so worst case scenario I bet you'd at least break even. Go for it. People are still doing this with iPhones, and they make money.

quit being so xenophobic, foreigners aren't that scary guys haha.

you'll get much more $$ for ipad 3. even more if you can get ipad 4 or 5.

Not true, in a dispute, Paypal will almost always take the sellers side. SO you ship an iPad to them and have your tracking information, etc. The buyer gets it and claims you sent an empty box. No way to prove what was in the box. Paypal will side with the buyer and you are out the money and your iPad.

This isn't just a foreign thing either. It is an issue for all paypal transactions especially on high-end transactions.

I have a question. What kind of question is this?
