how are these phones being sold? i thought you had to activate the phones t time of purchase and they are linked to your account.
 
I don't think the phone is linked to your account. You just have to sign a contract before getting the phone at the subsidized price.
 
the phone itself, however, is linked to your name. once you sell it, i suggest calling apple and asking them to change the name to whoever buys it.
