iPhone 12 Pro Selling iPhone - Software restore question

I’m about to put my 11 Pro Max on eBay ready to upgrade to a 12 Pro Max next month.

The concern I have is my phone is running the latest iOS 14.0.1

What would happen if after selling my phone Apple releases iOS 14.1. Would the iPhone 12 refuse to restore my iOS 14.0.1 backup?

No. Restoring older backups will work just fine. Apple has that one figured out...

Are you sure? I think in the past when restoring to a replacement phone after an Apple swap-out it’s thrown up an error because of the differing versions.

I think the problem is when folks have upgrade to a new BETA version of iOS which is 14.2. If you were on 14.2 you would not be able to restore as it is going backwards in iOS version.

I don’t do Beta. I just don’t want to end up with a new phone and a backup I can’t restore.
