Selling iPhone

I got a new iPhone and sold old one. So I reset all content and settings do I need to remove iCloud or anything? A few years back someone came back as they couldn’t use the phone. I don’t want to delete my iPhone 14 back up. My wife recently sold her phone I don’t think she removed her iCloud do you still have to do this or has things changed?
