I have an older Macbook Pro that's been laying around that I want to throw on Ebay. It has Snow Leopard on it. I'm really not familiar with Macs and I'm wondering what is the best way to reset the computer to sell? I want to make sure all my personal information is erased.

To create a Clean Install (formerly known as Erase & Install) of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (the 29 USD Upgrade DVD is a fully working retail version of Mac OS X and does not need a prior installation of Mac OS X on the Mac), follow one of the following guides:

It is a a1226 from around 2007. It is in a bit of rough condition physically. Not fishing to sell it here. I do not have the install CD's. If I just upgrade it to Lion would that erase everything?

Get the 29 USD Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD, as Lion will be bound to your Mac App Store (MAS) / iTunes account.
And just upgrading will only do an upgrade, you have to actually delete some stuff.

I skimmed the two links. Looks like I'll have to buy the OS disc. Thankfully it's cheaper than Windows. Does Apple limit how many machines I can install it on?
