Selling my iPhone - what are ways to make it get more $$$ for me?

I'm selling my original 4 GB iPhone as-is on the forums here, but if no one grabs it, I'll put it up on eBay where the world turns bizarro.

So how do i take advantage of that?

What software version should I have on the iPhone? Should I jailbreak it and unlock it? What should I do with the SIM? (I plan to start a whole new account with the iPhone 3G S, so I am not planning to transfer my SIM).

Any other tips? What should I use to accomplish the stuff above?

Yes do just that. Jailbreak it then unlock it with Cydia using yellowsnow. The sim card is not needed, just throw that away. Thats the best you can do.

I think it would make more money if you sell it unlocked and jailbroken with 3.0 than with 2.2.1 installed.
Carefull with putting it up on ebay, theres alot of scams and BS you might have to deal with to finally sell it to someone legit.
You can remove the sim if you sell it unlocked so the buyer can put a sim of their choice from either AT&T or Tmobile.

On a 2G yes on the 3G no unlock if you're on 2.2.1 but you can jailbreak.

Take really clear and close up photos, lightly gloss over minor defects, take a photo of the dints but don't center them in the photo, that way buyers only see them when receiving the phone, go back to the listing and then see the defect in the photo, that way they can't complain.
Don't post the hardware specs, if i want to buy an iPhone i know what it can do, i don't need you clogging up a listing with info i know.
