Hey all - So I've read a lot of you have sold on eBay (and have gotten decent coin) in order to buy the 3G in a few weeks.

What steps have you used to properly wipe your iPhone before selling? I've read many site offering "clear cut" ways to wipe the phone, but they all involve jailbreaking, etc.

Do you really have to jailbreak your phone to properly remove your data?

Have any of you asked at an Apple Store about it?

Any advice would be great...

Here are the steps to make sure your old iPhone is fully wiped,

1. Restore it in iTunes

2. Set it up as a new iPhone. do NOT restore from any backups.

3. If you want to jailbreak, unlock, and activate it so you dont have your subscription on it, Close iTunes completely and skip step number two. Then use ZiPhone to "Do it all". You can get ZiPhone at http://www.ziphone.org.

4. After you see the home screen on your iPhone, go to
Setting > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.

5. If that erases Installer.app from the home screen and it needs you to activate phone again, redo everything using ZiPhone.
