Selling old iPhone

I have my old 4s that I'm going to sell. I plugged it into my computer, clicked restore and now it's back at the regular setup. I also unregistered the phone from my Apple ID. Anything else I need to do? I'm wary of the iMessage problem that's been known to go around.

I did a full data wipe within the phone settings but there are additional security measures you can do for data wiping that you can research. One has to do with making a blank playlist to overwrite all your data with "blank data" or something.

After I did the restore, I can't get into the phone anymore without a SIM and activating it.

You will be fine.
You're safe selling it like that unactivated and restored.
