Is there a spot somewhere in the forums to list my macbook for sale? Not trying to post to everyone, just any boise residents.

Marketplace, but you need 250 posts to access it.
Mac2Sell, Gazelle or eBay (Việt Nam, Türkiye, Česká republika, Hanguk) might be good price checkers.

Selling outside the Marketplace

All threads offering items for sale or trade, asking to buy items, or asking for pricing advice on items to be sold must be posted in the Marketplace forum, which is accessible only to qualified members and subject to additional rules; see the Marketplace Rules for details. Members not eligible for the Marketplace forum may not start threads elsewhere for such purposes.

Eligibility.

To use the Marketplace forum (read threads, start threads, or post replies), you must be a forum member with user title 6502 or above, which means that you have 250 or more posts as displayed in your User Profile. This gives other members a chance to become familiar with you. To see your User Profile, click Quick Links -> My Profile at the top of a forum page. You must also have been a member for at least 180 days.

I think the restrictions to get into marketplace are great.

You don't want someone to keep making new accounts with new mail and screw people over. Someone who has also taken the time to post 250+ times invested a decent amount of time in these forums. Most likely they will not want to tarnish their reputation and ge blacklisted. Both these rules make perfect sense to me.

Better off on craigslist for your local area. Or eBay and pickup only.

I'm 34 posts away...been here since 2007. Soon I hope.

I was at 250 before I hit the 180 day window.

I think the restriction is a bit too, uh, restrictive as well. It's a crime that someone who has been here since 2007 can't post an ad on the marketplace.

I have no interest in even posting there now...but I did want to about a year ago. Just weird that when I needed it...I couldn't do it, so I went elsewhere and had great success so I don't even think about listing anything here now. :/

I generally go with eBay or Craigslist or a local 'yardsales' website we have here in Houston.

And if you have an iPhone or computer to sell, check out green.ebay.com. A refurb company will quote you a price and send you a mailing label and get you money into your PayPal account within 3 or 4 days. You may not get the highest price ever, but for lack of hassle it can't be beat if you are in the US. I got $140 for my wife's iPhone 3G back in March.

True, but you'll sure get to know them after that week is up! Do you think members will be scrambling to buy from someone who reached that goal so fast?;)
No, I wasn't commenting on the Marketplace requirements; only on the post number. The point is, it's not hard to reach in a reasonable period of time if you answer a lot of questions and help a lot of members.

As I did, :) but I still had to wait almost 3 months after that to be granted access.

I just think that the prerequisites are too stringent is all.

I agree.. Im on here daily but i rarely post (This community is great at posting quick responses) and I've been here since 2006 with only 146 posts! Maybe they could change it to time as well as post amount.
