Semi-dimming a new feature?

I don't recall my iPad 1 dimming only slightly (about 1/2 way) if I didn't touch the screen for a minute or two and then completely shutting off another minute or two later...similarly to how my iMac does it.

Was this a feature on iPad 1 as well or is it new?

I'm pretty sure they always did this...

It was always dimming 50% before it would go to sleep. At least I recall mine doing this . But I am already on 4.3 now.

Depends on the app but yeah pretty normal
