I would like to buy a monitor for my MacBook Pro and xbox one, and I also made up my mind on purchasing the Asus pb278q until I recently found out the screen coating with that monitor is semi - glossy!!!! It has the word glossy in it even it has semi at front. I hate glossy displays so much due to the reflections. So I would like To hear what you guys would say abt the semi glossy coating on monitors.. Is he reflection going to be that bad or that's the perfect balance between glossy and matte

Thanks in advanced :)

Only you can tell if its going to be too glossy. I have an apple ACD and its glossy, but I can live with it. I have my office set up in such a way that minimizes the reflections. most displays out there now a days, including iMacs, Apple Cinema Displays and nearly all MBPs are glossy.

For me the apple 27 inch display is not acceptable to me due to the reflections. There are some low quality display at my grandparents and parents' house and those displays are coated with anti glare material and they look fine to me in terms of low reflections. However, I am not sure how much antiglare coating they have on those monitors at my grandparents and parents' house.. And I am not sure what it is gonna be if I comparing the semi glossy display with the antiglare display I see at my grandparents' house...

I apologise if the reply is too long or confusing ...

I think you've answered your own question. If you don't like what you see with the ACD, I doubt very much if you'll like a semi-glossy monitor. I'd search out a good matte display.

I have seen that ASUS monitor listed as a matte display, with antiglare coating.

I would wonder why you haven't looked at one, to check out for yourself if that's true - or something you can't live with.
