Hi,
I have a 15"Macbook pro 2009.
I have it running on both osX and bootcamp.
TLDR; Computer crashes and buzzes until hard reset on bootcamp. Simple crash and immediate recovery on mac. Technitian touched it, now it's crashing twice as often.
It crashes unpredictably when I am on the OSX partition, The screen will flash white like a skewed barcode for about half a millisecond, and hard reset itself. The computer will boot saying "your computer has restarted because of a problem" and do it's thing as usual.
On the Bootcamp, It crashes much more periodically, and more predictably. Mostly when I am playing graphic intense games such as Skyrim and source engine games. It ALWAYS crashes when I play super meat boy. The screen flashes white like the skewed barcode, and the screen goes black but the backlight is still on (I think). The sound output (whether it be headphones or speaker) Emit a terrible buzzing noise. You can hear the audio of the video game through the buzzing. The Computer cools down quickly. It is not the cooling fans as the buzzing is coming through the speakers. It will remain in this state until a hard reset. There is no recovery. This buzzing has been heard sometimes when the computer lightly freezes for ~2 seconds flashes completely white, and recovers completely within ~5 seconds.
I took it into a tech, he said there has been a spill from a while back that may be causing issues, but he ran all the general software tests and they all passed. He offered to order a $350 part to TRY to fix the issue, but I declined and took the computer back. I believe it was an entire exterior case to remedy the sticky keys as well, but I don't believe him and It could be corrosion on the inside. The spill was over one whole year ago, and the keys aren't that sticky. The spill indicators on the inside are red however.
Since the tech took apart and reassembled the computer, crashes have been twice as frequent, (once as I was typing this) and happens on startup as well. It happens in waves. after a crash on bootcamp, The computer trips and turns itself off within 5 seconds of booting. (It even makes the characteristic click noise when you hold down the power button) This will happen up to 10 times until it finally boots completely.
My current goal is to get another tech to look at any faulty work by the original technician, and if he finds something, use it as leverage to get a discounted or better deal on the $350 case replacement.
Any other suggestions? I have done vast searches for information, the buzzing only happens on windows OSes, and when playing games only as it seems. There have suggestions on RAM testing, GFx card replacements, Sound card replacements, the whole thing. I am running out of options, and money.
I can use all the help I can get thanks!
If it helps, I can post a video of the constant tripping on startup. Anything else to help just ask!
