I finally got around to the Monterey upgrade and the Mail app behavior of "automatically select best account" for new messages is unusable. I've always had Mail set to send from the selected account inbox and never had issues. Is this working any better in Ventura?

check mail preferences (am not at my mac right now), but you have it set wrong. i've NEVER dealt with 'automatically select'; mail always sends from the account i'm in, or i can switch to another in the menu (true for a long time, thru monterey and now ventura).

What is the right way to set it? Options are to either "automatically select..." or set to a specific account. I've always had it set to automatic and it started the new message based on the account I had selected (I have 6 different accounts). Since upgrading this doesn't work the way it did. I've watched it actually change from my work account to a personal account after typing in a work colleagues address. Very odd behavior and I've found many others experiencing this. Just wondering if Ventura works any better.

someone else will have to answer; am waiting for a new macbook (and don't have the mail app running on my imac). but again, it's always been simple here. the default is the account you're in, but you can switch to another with the dropdown menu.
