Send page from Mac for offline reading

Hi Forum.

I can save a page to the reading list on mavericks, and it appears on the iPhone 6 no problem as a link. Is it possible to have it automatically download the page so that it is available for offline reading also?

If not, is it possible to download a whole list of pages saved to the reading list on the mac to the phone in one go? If for example I save multiple pages to the reading list on my mac, knowing that I have a flight coming up, can I force the phone to save the reading list to read offline without opening each page individually before I lose data connection?
