iPhone 12 Sending images

Hey guys I recently noticed that sending even large videos on WhatsApp or other messaging applications is taking a fraction of what it used to in the past. Is the latest iOS version allowing these apps to run in the background. I am quite sure that the iPhone cannot upload a 2-minute video in 15 seconds

I don't use WhatsApp but, I would think a lot of it depends on your connection, as well as any post processing the app(s) may do. It is certainly possible to have upload that fast.
