my hinge on my mbp is screwy. it clicks when I move it, and it doesn't go back as far as every other macbook pro i've played with. so i'll need to have it replaced. the closest mac store from me is like 7 miles and i can take the metro and metro bus there, but i have to take it back and then come there again to pick it up when the order is done. how is the service when u send your mbp in to apple themselves? would you recommend it?

If you've got an Apple store that close, why you would try to send it Apple is beyond me. Make an appointment with a genius -- if they find the problem right away, and there's a tech available, you may get your unit fixed while you wait.

Yeah I took it to an authorized store and they sent it to apple. I got it three days later!

i would much rather travel the short distance to the store then send it out-- it will most likely get done faster as well
