Advice appreciated,

Just bought Macbook - trying to configure mail. Am receiving mail from tiscali through BT Broadband but cannot send mail. Have entered the following as outgoing mail server smtp.tiscali.co.uk

Is there an issue trying to send through BT to tiscali?

Any help thankfully received,

Si

there wont be a problem accessing the tiscali servers because your using BT Broadband. Are you sure you have set the inbound and outbound addresses correctly and SMTP is enabled on your tiscali account?

Just sorted this out for my Dad:

Incoming mail server: mail.me.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.provider.com (for my Dad it was smtp.btconnect.com) as his is a business broadband package.

If you're not sure ask BT what their outgoing mail server is. For some reason I only have this issue with BT, whenever I take my laptop to his network I can't send unless I change it to smtp.btconnect.com yet on mine smtp.me.com works? Go figure

Remember that Tiscali are not owned by BT...

I believe it's TalkTalk now?

BT is just his connection to the Internet. Tiscali is his e-mail provider. Shouldn’t make a difference what ISP you have - mail is mail. :)
