I have an older iMac I do not use, it has been pretty faithful to me but I know its just another random event from frying its video card or main board (it did once to the tune of $1500 in Apple care repairs).

Apple has this nice recycling program, they claim it could be as much as $343 in credit should I take them up on it.

What I am asking is, has anyone used this service ? If so, was the offer based on the web site close to the amount you received?

You would get more if you sold it by yourself. Think of it as trading in a car at the dealership, you are not going to get top dollar for your trade.

It's not done by Apple. It's a third-party and the rates they quote you are ridiculous compared to even other trade-in services (like PowerMax or Gazelle).
