I know 3GU and My3G can trick the phone into thinking it's on wifi so we can use facetime anywhere. Is there an app that could trick the phone to use wifi and 3G service to I can send text messages. I don't have any service at my house and using the home phone for calls is fine, but I hate when I leave the house and I get 10 messages from the past couple of hours.

There are probably a dozen or more texting via wfi apps available, as well as other threads on this. Check out the app store.

There's no app that'll allow texting from your AT&T number over wifi, but as the above poster said, there are plenty of apps that'll let you do it using a different number and/or custom app.

If you want to be able to use your phone number, you might look into a MicroCell.

I know there are other apps out there, but I'm looking to use the same app/phone number
