Hi there - I'm a new member to the forum but a long time fan and reader. :)

I'm purchasing a 21.5" iMac this week to use in a home-office. I'm wondering which, if any, upgrades are worth my while. I will be using the computer for:

- running audio file processing software (similar to audition)
- running statistical software (spss)
- word processing, powerpoint, and excel
- web-browsing and email etc

Realistically I could probably afford one maybe two of the following. Which should I seriously consider?

RAM up to 16gb
Fusion Drive
Processor up to i5 2.9ghz

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Ben

I'm not sure how demanding spss software is terms of ram. 8gb should be more than enough though from what I can see. The fusion drive though I highly recommend and the processor will be more than enough.

Thanks for the input. I get apple education discount so the fusion drive will cost around £175 extra.

Those that already have it - would you definitely recommend it?

The Fusion Drive is nice. I really like it. I came from a PC with 128gb SSD and 500gb HDD that I managed on my own. Having the OS do it for me is nice.
