So, I'm brewing up a project over here that requires me to count the number of switch closures on a nearby switch.
How in the heck do I get this info into my PowerBook? I don't exactly have a ton of basic, old fashioned ports here.
Should I get an RS-232 to USB adapter, throw some C++ at it and keep a little logging program running, or what?
Can I use some of these other ports, like the modem port? The mic port?
I don't want to spend a ton of money on a whole setup.
(Ideally, I'd also like an external temperature sensor, but that starts to all sound like X10 stuff...)
