I recently sent in my iPhone 13 mini for a battery replacement and the phone I got back looks different. Not a single scratch on the front glass, rear glass, or sides. Looks mint. Maybe my old phone was mint but I sure don't remember that being the case. It was also running iOS 26.0.1 and I sent it in with iOS 26.0. It it possible they just sent me a different phone rather than bothering to replace my battery?

if you got a new phone, a lot of things will logged out. or have to be set up again. Apple Pay cards also have to be re-added. If you got your old motherboard back, you may not have to. Not sure if you wiped your phone before sending it away.

had a 16pro and broke the back glass. When they replace that, they replace the motherboard. and there were a ton of things that got lost, basically had to set it up as new phone.

This can happen when something during the battery exchange goes wrong.
When there was the $29 battery-gate with the 6s i also got a new phone
