Last week i sent an email to Apple concerning the lack of an Apple Branded Dock or Port Replicator for the MacBook Pro.

Now i didnt expect any meaninful reply (Only a copy of Apple’s Unsolicited Idea Submission Policy to be sent.)

But instead i was given a number to ring, a Person with Apple Europe Executive Relations.

Has anyone else had a reply like this...?

he doesn't want to give a copy of the email or everyone is going to start emailing them

Im not after the idea. I just wanted to see how it was written and why it grabbed their attention. Docks are not exactly a new idea so i was curious as to the wording. :)

Oh dear. You may of been in breach of the policy and they just want to beat you with an iStick. Sounds like they plan to keep you busy on the phone while they trace your location then send the heavies round.

lol :D

Btw heres Part of the Email they sent me!:)

Thank you for your correspondence to Apple concerning an issue with your MacBook Pro. We feel that your issue would be best handled in a phone conversation.

I think it'd be awesome if Apple offered a stylish dock of their own for their laptop lines. The bookendz version is hideous, cheap-looking, and EXPENSIVE.

With all the other extra accessories they offer, I'm surprised Apple doesn't already have one out.

But anyways, good luck with the conversation. I still doubt it'll come of anything, but oh well. We should start an emailing campaign arguing for an Apple Dock. The iDock. ;)

Yeah if this doesnt work out then lets start the emailing campaign:)

But how would it work? I have seen these USB style docks and personally think they are rather pants! But i used to have a Sony Vaio and the dock for this had every port plus more charged it and acted as a riser to aid ventilation this worked from a longer thinner style of the old serial cable. I think it cost around 100 GBP but was well worth it and a useful product that i would love to have rather than a Griffin iStand

Reply!

After some mis communication, they are selling me an Apple Branded Macbook Pro Dock! :) (Joking)

Infact im now expecting to be called by an Apple technical specialist.

i will update when i have more info.

Here is part of the last email.

Could you provide me with the serial number of your unit, along with a preferred time of contact, and I will arrange a technical specialist callback for you.

What is the point of a dock on a MBP. My cinema display has DVI firewire and USB. Three cables which are a lot faster to hook up than some clunky 1990s docking device. The point of a laptop is portability, if you want a stationary point buy a desktop.
BTW there are companies that make docking devices, I believe Bookendz is one of them.
