So my 15" Macbook Pro had a problem with the taptic engine in the trackpad - the right side would not register force clicks and the haptic feedback was busted as well and the laptop made sounds like this :
That is not my video but I had the same problem. That sound is made by the broken haptic engine from the trackpad.
Pretty cheap QC for a machine that costed me 3.270$ but anyway Apple solved the problem by replacing the bottom case assembly [case - trackpad - keyboard - touchbar - battery]
And here's the funny thing - they put a 2017 case on it.
How do I know ? Because of the keyboard :
iFixit comparing the 2017 MBP keyboard against the 2016 MBP :
I have those new option and control keys and the keys do feel a little different (not the travel feel), I say more firm, the 2016 ones felt a little mushi sometimes.
As you may know, Apple ships the bottom case fully assembled to the service (with keyboard, trackpad and so on) so it's not like the guy from the service put the 2017 keyboard on the 2016 case.
Now I have a machine with 2016 internals and 2017 externals. Lol.
This doesn't bother me at all. Apple fixed the machine for free no questions asked, so i have zero reasons to complain but i'm just curios why ?
Over the years I took about 8 Apple products for repairs and this the first time they fixed the machine with parts from another model.
Does the 2016 keyboard is really that bad ? I had this machine for 7 months now and I like the keyboard.

The keyboard trigger looks like a more classic switch this go-around. The plastic butterfly mechanism appears to have thinned out to accommodate the new switch form factor. The keystroke and travel feel about the same to us, so perhaps the real change is reinforcement for repeated use.
While not really a mechanical change, the control and option keys got some new ink. They now mark keyboard shortcuts rather than translating for PC users.
