ny somewhere
here's what i want to do:

i have a database (in .vcf format) of about 500 business contacts. i'd like to have an app to access them, so... NOT import them into Contacts, NOT have them synced in icloud. just a way to access the vcards when i need to get a number or email address.

i'd hoped to create an "on my mac" account in the app (like notes does, or used to do), but no such option. and i don't want to create a separate user account for this...

any suggestions? a trick, a 3rd-party app? thanx...

I gather you want to be sure these contacts won't be accidentally merged into your iCloud account... How about importing them into the contacts of a different mail service (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)? You'd be able to view them in Contacts at will, but still keep the data segregated.

a possibility, thanks. but hopefully i'll find a simpler solution (since i don't use gmail or yahoo, for example). but yes, i DON'T want them merged into my icloud account...

EDIT:workable solution: imported all into Numbers, and i have an editable, accessible file. so, all good!
