loughborough. u.k.
who here would like the option to have the finder open in a separate window when opening files like in all the previous os,s? i know i would!

when working i need to have separate windows open for cross referencing and accessing stored data in different files, the new tab system is completely useless to me!

i really wish apple would give the option for this instead of acting like "big brother" and assuming this is what everybody wants!

looks like I'm going back to M/L

File > New Finder Window opens a new window every time. If you have tabbed windows, drag them around to reorder or separate, just like in Safari.

Finder > Preferences > "Open folder in tabs instead of new windows". Untick it.

Finder > Preferences > "Open folder in tabs instead of new windows". Untick it.

I've got that unchecked, first thing i tried, still does nothing.

this works, thank you for the advice. but it seems pretty pointless to have to do this when the previous way was by far easier. but thanks for the help, appreciated.
