Suppose if apple event is scheduled for Sept 9th, can we make an order for any phone 3/4 days before the launch event ?
For example if am looking to get iphone 15/15 plus , then can i buy it 3/4 days before the launch event and keep an option open to return them (14 days return policy) and then buy the same 15/15 plus at a 100$ price cut if they still make it to apple.com post 17 series launch.
If 15/15 plus dont make to official apple.com then i can keep the phone i ordered 3/4 days before the launch event.
Please help me understand how apple.com works before/after the launch event for the phones that are getting the price cuts or making the way out of new models

Every year on the day of the event (usually Tuesday) old models disappear or get discounts.
End of the week you can preorder new models.

But in Europe many websites sell it already 250€ cheaper than apple. So it doesn’t make sense to buy from them as it still will be more expensive.
I guess in the US the same , no?

I'm quite certain the iPhone 15 line will not be available for purchase from Apple once the iPhone 17 is available in-store. Apple will instead keep the iPhone 16 line in their lineup with a price cut.

Why? Usually there were 3 years available. I guess the 14 was axed cos of missing USB-C port required by EU and India laws.

I'm judging this based on the current lineup. Perhaps the 16e presence means only one previous generation will stay in the lineup, like we currently have.
