iPod touch Serial number question

Hello to all,
I found here on macrumors that "bad blacks" problem is fixed on touches from week 38... I have an opportunity to buy one with this serial number 1D738yyyyyy, and I wonder if this 38 part is week number. If it is I guess it is safe to take it. Anyway, if there is any advice on this matter, i'd be more than thankful.

Probably not the best idea to post your serial number like that - might wanna X part of it out.

I'd imagine it is seeing as it's the only legible numbers that are there.

And completely unrelated...your warranty runs out on the 8th of October and you're in the US
